Well my friends, most of you might be shocked once you see the photos of this project.. others may understand. but this is my car, or whats left of it. i bought this pile for 2 grand cash CAN . the motor has just over 100k and the interior is mint. BUT the previous driver of this 240 used it for a winter beater and anything the salt touched just destroyed.. and i mean DESTROYED.so here it is. any help would be so appreciated

driver sideframe/rocker

passenger sideframe/rocker

trunk hole.under the hole behind the wheel-well.

Man o' man. I had a '73 Z from Oregon that wasn't that bad!! It can be fixed! It will just require a lot of patience and $$$. Don't give up!!!

dude if you can fix that I'll fly you to new york and pay you to fix mine. Where the frame curves around the firewall is completely rotted out and i didnt think it would be safe to try to fix.

My friends I have already started I went to the car hold last night and did measurements for the left rocker panel, and with my father being an engineer I used one of his designing programs to come out with this.

The only problem you could encounter is that the rockers and subframe are rotten and they are 2 parts now.

Although is fixable, you will need to fabricate some sort of subframe to reinforce the rutted almost non existent one. Floors and firewall are fixable.

Be sure to recheck measurements after you finish of you will have a nightmare aligning and driving that car.

Its easier to sell that and buy a shell than to repair that.....but thats up to you

As said above... You paid WAY to much for that car. You should part it out and use that $$$ to buy a new one in a LOT better condition imho.

for where I live I have not seen any around guys, i drove to kitchener for this pile. thats a good 4 hour drive from my location. But I am taking measurements for the rockers, inside wall which attaches to floor and rocker panels. and the 2 main frame rails from front to about half way down the car. Cutting them out and replacing with hand made ones. Then the simple floor pan structure and side bondo work.

well after further inspection iv decided to replace both of the 2 frame rails, front to back instead of just the rusted areas. in which case I have to take out the rear end.. I have never done this before but i think if I put the 2 jack stands on the frame near the back. take my break cables out, drop the rear end and drive shaft. then put the jack stands under where the rear end was mounted too on the rear cross member. it looks strong enough. but can any of you second my opinion on this?

I'm sure you're going to hear the same broken record play a lot "you paid too much". Fact is, you did. Ebay has a a lot of 240's, so does craigslist, I wish you had just used a little patience and waited until you found something better. Right now around my area is a 93 240 selling for $600, which Im sure could be sold for $400. I could have had that shipped to you and you would have had a running car (that needs paint) for half what you paid there without having to drive 4 hours to pick it up. Now you have to dump more than $3500 on top of what you paid (MINIMUM). Cars like that are money pits.

Sorry bro, im sure it'll be a learning experience for you, but in my opinion it's not worth it.

OF COURSE! :D I plan to do a full out reconstruction of this car.. and this site will see the process. i'm about to go out and drop my transmission, drive shaft and rear end. then the measurements of frame will be done and ill be sending out the designs for both frame rails and both rockers. I will post pictures of these when i receive them and after they are welded. cheers!

You are strangely optimistic man...I honestly don't see the point in restoring that car. So the interior is mint, big deal? You could redo an entire interior for less than you will spend safely rebuilding that car. It has HICAS, thats cool and all, but its probably not worth rebuilding the system just to keep the car since I bet it will need a lot of work too. We haven't even factored in the amount of time you will spend working on it instead of driving it. I hope you dont have a family or wife, lol. Just part it out (keep the interior if you want for your next 240) to re-coup some money and go out and buy a different 240 that isn't effed up. You haven't complained yet about the cost of this little endeavor, so I assume money isn't an object. Just cut your losses, man. The others are right, bro, 240's are all over the web, just do a search. You'll get buyers remorse quick and realize how much more car you could get for your money if you were dropping your cash on motor mods, suspension, etc instead of FRAME REPAIR...blah. Its an investment, and youre not looking at the big picture of how you could make your money work for you. Just my two cents...flame me if you will though.

i hope u weld in something across the frame when u remove the rocker panel so you don;t distort the frame. I have frame spec sheet if you know how to measure the frame and keep points. I can try to see and scan it. I keep just in case i ever get any frame damage.
