I've been offered a killer deal on tires. 215/65/15 (same as current set) installed for $100 brand new.Brand: DouglasModel: Douglas PerformanceTreadwear: 380Load rating: 1565lbs

Comes with a 40k warranty.

I was gonna park the Q until spring but I might replace the power steering hose and head out there to get these before theyre gone. Any opinion on the Douglas brand? Theyre at a small tire shop 75 miles out of town.

Thanks!!

Kelly Springfield makes these tires for Walmart!........as a low cost tire for ads...........probably overstocks sold - given to small tire stores.

On a car as TIRE stressful as a Q remember that speed rating is a measure of durability along with load rating. The oem were V rated and that should be the minimal requirement unless you opt for a stronger tire [higher load index] then H rated might be suitable as long as you stay under 100 mph.

You gotta buy what what gotta buy, if funds are a concern but I would think Sumatomo, or Kumho would be better made at the bottom of price range.Oem sized tires [215/65/15] [cost the eqivalent in todays dollars of $210 EACH] but replacements currently available range from $50 to $140 each. Spending less than $70 per tire [1/3 of oem price] is probably asking for problems unless you keep speeds below 70 mph.

Those 4 for a $100 deals are not very good tires.

They would work well as long as it is in the garage. Just took no-name tossers of wife's 2000 Q45 that were over load rating, but only S speed rating. Replaced with Firestone SZ50 EP. The tossers were squirrelly and probably not in round. Absolutely horrible.

If Michelin could produce and sell and XGTV for $50, don't you think they would? Tires are your only interface with the road. Why degrade your control, performance and durability?

Doesn't matter if you are a perfectly conditioned athlete if you try to sprint wearing wooden clogs. You'll lose to anyone in tennis shoes or even street shoes, let alone another well conditioned athlete in track shoes.

At the risk of committing heresy, I am on my second set of Douglas tires. I got them at Wal-Mart...and get them rotated and balanced every 3k miles when I get the oil changed.

I replaced the first ones at 30k miles and the second set is on course for that amount as well.

Keep in mind that I rarely drive above 70-75mph...

I got the second set, because the first set lasted as long as previous Michelins or whatever I had...can't remember..

With installation and tax and all, it was $150. At first, they rode kind of rough, but after a couple hundred miles they got quieter. The best part? They handle like the car is on RAILS. Absolutely fantastic handling. I cant spin them as easily as I could my Yokohamas or BFGs.

You know those yellow left turn lights that tempt you from 100 feet away? Now I can soar through and briskly swing a left turn at the intersection before the light turns red. Theyre no longer a problem for me. :D

For the price I paid, I can beat the living daylights out of them and not care. A shame its a once-in-a-blue-moon deal.
