I would like to put in a double din nav/dvd unit and I am wondering if it is possible to just cut out the dash to the right size. The Kits on e-bay seem to eliminate the dual control option (girlfriend always uses this).

The hard part is what to do with the circuit board for all of the switches (I believe the AC and radio controls are on the same board.

Has anyone done this?

You do have to separate the controls. The climate controls and CD player controls are on the same circuit board. Riverside Infiniti has a store on eBay and currently have the conversion kit with the Dual button. This is very rare, but it's only $10 more than the non-Dual option. Your other option is to get a non-Dual kit and you can put your own Dual button on with some soldering.

I would like to save the $200 if possible... Has anyone tried to separate the radio and AC controls?

From what I've been told, it's a necessity.

Does anyone have an old board they would be willing to let me play with in the name of science?

I looked into this option when I did my stereo install. The problem is that the ENTIRE circuit board is integrated. There isn't a seperate part for radio and HVAC. You are gonna have to at a minimum get the Climate Control part. You can buy the parts seperately on some websites.

Last time I talked to them, they had 24 sets of climate controls but no trim pieces. That was probably 2, 3 weeks ago.
