I am thinking about getting this JVC KW-XG700 or the JVC KW-XG500 double din radio rather than getting the dask kit. Will this work? Any reason not to get it?

thanks!

possibly if the stock stereo finisher fits nicely, I did a double single din setup, and did not use the finisher from the kit, and I was fine with it, but with a double din it will look different. It is all up to you!

IMO, I would rather leave the stock stereo than put a JVC, search for a thread on which they put a really nice Kenwood double din unit, I checked the price on that particular one and it barely reached $200.

I agree that there are much nicer units that you can spend your money on, but I've never been one to bash anyone who wants to upgrade their stock head unit. Regardless of what anyone tells you, almost every stock head unit is poorer in quality and features than what you can find in almost any aftermarket unit, unless you have a premium factory setup or a really expensive car. I'm sure I'm opening up the floodgates for everyone to say I'm an idiot, but that's just how I feel. However, back to the point, you would probably be better suited to save the money until you can afford a little bit nicer head unit. If you shop on ebay, you can find really nice Pioneer and Kenwood units for less than $600.
