Why bother? Syncros were invented for a reason.

Ah, rev matching is the term I'm used to for downshifts.

Probably just takes some getting used to.

How long have you been driving a manual car?

There's some danger to double clutching a synchronized transmission if you aren't doing it right. The problem is if you mismatch the speed it still works. So you can actually put more stress on your synchronizers than normal shifting.

Some say the only way to learn double clutching is on an unsynchronized transmission. As that is the only way you'll know if you did it right 100%.

Won't double-clutching damage the synchros eventually?

Can't win the race if you're not double clutching like you should. Watch out for the granny shifting too.

Double clutching is slower to shift then conventional clutch use right? Since you have to do more actions. So how does this help you win a race? Be it drag racing or real racing like on a track with corners.

It's a tongue-in-cheek quote of The Fast and The Furious.

Regardless, the technique is completely unnecessary in modern vehicles. If done properly, it won't cause any additional damage, but why bother?

However, on downshifts it is a good idea to rev match as that will decrease the strain on the syncros, not to mention make the transition smoother.

Why risk it if its unneccessary?

Hence the "why bother?" portion of that sentence.

Sarcasm man

Thus the reason I used a lame quote from F&F. And as for racing....I'm all about the real racing on a track with corners (i.e. auto-x and road course)
