OK, heres the deal. Im narrowing some things down here(yeah yeah, Im a suspension mod I should know this,..but I always want to get as many schools of thought as possible)

heres my debate(my suspension/driveline setup):-NISMO or KAAZ differential (I will be road racing) Im leaning toward NISMO right now, because of its ease of install, etc...and I know it'll work.? thoughts?-Nismo rear sub-frame bushings-NISMO rear alluminum differential cover(yeah, kinda cheese but onh ot track days could be helpfull to have those heat fins)-TEIN RE or Apex-I N-1 coilovers?-Battle Version rear suspension peices

mainly I need a bit of feedback on the differnetial issue..

any thoughts apreciated..-chet

I don't think you can go wrong with either diff. I would go with the Kaaz though only b/c there is a Kaaz USA and if anything ever goes wrong you can get it serviced easier and faster. I don't have any experiance with either, but rumor has it the Nismo is quieter than the Kaaz. Who knows though since break-in has so much to do with that. Just out of curiosity, doesn't the Kaaz peice just bolt into a VLSD pumpkin no problem (same as the Nismo)?

With the subframe bushings...are the Nismos inserts (like the Whiteline) or do they replace the existing bushings entirely? Also, are they solid or urethane.

As for the coilovers, I'd go with the Tein RE's...but that's b/c I'm partial to Tein.:) Does Apexi have a USA rebuild station?. If they don't, I'd definately go with Tein.

You might want to re-think the battle version parts though. I don't know what kind of racing you are doing, but look into class rules and specifications before you buy those. Adjustable suspension components are not always allowed. Of course I'd reccomend changing out your bushings...if you want to go hard core, you can get spherical (pillow ball) bushings for your stock suspension components from http://splparts.com/ They are pricey though and a custom set of sphericals won't be much less/more. My friend just got a set made for his 240 and I think he paid around that price. His car will be an ITA car.

the NISMO units are derlin(harder than urethane), I found a set of solid ones...but those are off the market. and they are replacements(not inserts)...

Im leaning toward the NISMO unit myself. and for the GT class I want to run in, as long as the suspension retains the stock "functioning" peices, IE you cant take a multi-link and put in a semi-trailing arm rear suspension..it should be OK.

Go with the Nismo diff over the KAAz, and go tiens over apex i... what about JIC coilovers?

Dori Dori makes a very good point about the US support for Kaaz. But as far as I am concerned mechanically, they are both very sound and a good choice.

As far as Delrin subframe bushings, they are stiff, so they will make more noise. If you care nothing about noise or ride quality(in terms of comfort), then go for it.

If you're looking for an alternative to the diff cover, a Z32 diff cover will fit and has cooling fins.

I've heard some nightmares about the A'pex coilovers when used with camber plates(shaft breaking off). But never firsthand nor have I seen evidence of this. But I only say it so you may try to ask around. I'm also not fond of the Tien's green color. Not that it matters functionally, but it's just me...hehe.

As far as battle version I've not heard anything good or bad about it. Though Alex, who works there(last I heard) won the RS-R drift event. I'm guessing he had their parts on it and if he did, it at least didn't break...

Yeah, I got the guy Im going to buy the diff from to drop the shipping charge(almost 80 dollars..w00t.) so it'll be in in a few weeks...yay(nismo unit.). thanks for the feedback guys. Im still researching the suspension. I've seen both the tein R series and N1 apex-i ued with pretty nice sucsess....

oh well. too little money, so many things that need to be upgraded.(and yeah, since its for raod racing, ride quality is definitely second to handling ability..)-chet

About Battle Version 4ag guys love what they had of his. It's too bad that hes gone out of the ae86 game but hey now he can cater to us. I'll definantly be going with them in the future. With his extreme knowledge and his perfectionist self his parts are the highest quality. If Phase2 is confident enough to carry there parts thats just more reassurance of how great they are.

1. Would you stay away from the full metal inserts that I have seen online? I think I am going to go with the Kazama collars.

2. My friend Frank stripped one of the shafts on his a'pex coils trying to install tein camber plates.

3. I just finished stripping my rear subframe and the arms from the rear are not extremely beefy. I think the rear Battle Versions will do me fine.
