I picked up a used '90 n/a 300zx this past weekend. I've realized that the doors will not stay locked. Either by manually pushing the locks to the locked position, or with the key. As soon as you shut the door and try the handle, they're already unlocked. I had a similar situation with my '95 240sx, where I had to disconnect the security feature in the dash. Any ideas how to correct this on the zx?

You are lifting the handle when you close the door right? This is typical on "import cars" it takes getting used to for some people. If you close the door first you can lock it with the lever or key correct? I seem to recall have a car that required key locking after the door was closed, it was to be a security feature so you don't lock your keys in the car, but you could grind a tab off the lock mechanism to defeat it. I can't for the life of me remember which car that was, I've owned well over the 50 car thus far in my life.

What Dave said. Hold the handle up while you close it.

Thank you all, it worked. Unfortunately, my key won't open my driver side door. Oh the little joys of buying a used car.
