My doors seem to want to lock themselves. I've actually locked the keys in it once and I'm afraid it will happen again. What do I need to fix? Is it something I can pull from the junkyard?

Check yo' battery connections, foo! Seriously, the Q I bought from Chopp has locked its own doors several times and it's not fun. I found it was a bad positive wire connection at the battery. I dunno if it was where it connects to the battery or the two little cables in that red clip, but I cleaned and tightened it all up. Hasn't done it since.

Wonder if there's an aftermarket alarm tucked away somewhere?

Nope. The battery connections are good and there's no aftermarket alarm anywhere.

Wes has had this problem (I think on his burgundy Q) and it seems to be tied back to a BCM going bad??

It's not happened to me on either of my Q's, though Rob said it happened once to his before I bought it??

Aren't there some actuators in the door or someting? It's done it for years and I've just lived with it. Before I bought it Byron at T3 mentioned something and I just remembered he said something about actuators(?). They were mainly concerned with the drivetrain and didn't note anything about the doors. Now that I've got this 94Q in my local boneyard I thought I might pull the parts needed.

If I understand correctly, the BCM (Body Control Module) tells the actuators what and when to do things.

Waiting for Wes or Jeff Williams to chime in ...

Hey, i've been having this problem too, but my Q also will re-lock itself several times if i use the key control module to open the doors. Its like a little game, see who gives up first, but its not that fun. I think it is the BCM as well, not sure how to deal with it though.

I have had this problem intermittently with my Q as well. I try to remember to keep the window partly down if I'm outside and the keys inside. I thought I remembered reading about a lock relay somewhere.

Yep...fairly common...Just have a spare key made and hide it somewhere under the car...

Mine does it as well and I believe it's a loose connection in the door or door jam. Mine only does it when I open the drivers door all the way. There is a door lock module in the drivers door that controls lock functions. I need to pull the door panel and evaluate just haven't bothered yet. If I have the glove box trunk switch active it will pop the trunk as well when I open the drivers door.

When I get around to looking at it I'll post what I find. I fix stuff like this all the time for others, when it's mine I typically just live with it until it really gets on my nerves, which is now...

Well add me to the list of those who have lived with this long enough. Besides getting locked out a couple times, (enough for me to learn to always have the key in my hand when I shut the door), the locks will fire three and even four times when I put the key in the door, ditto interior driver's door lock. Click, click, click. Usually after three it stops and will let me do whatever. It's so annoying ... I've put up with it for four years.

Guess you now know why Infiniti supplied every Q45 with a "wallet" key.

You know, mine hasn't done it in a while. I wonder if it was battery related or if I'm just on a lucky streak with this issue?

The electrical gremlins came with the Q as a standard option.

I've not had this issue with mine. I have had different ones. Mine are no "hands free", and no "seat back/steering wheel up" when turning the car off.

Make sure the defeat button on the steering column is in the right position. Then put the key in the ignition without turning it on and open and close the door several times. That needs to be done any time the battery is disconnected. I've had to do that with mine many times.

Whats the defeat button, also do you think cleaning the battery terminals and putting some battery terminal gel on the posts will help? I think i might try this and post if it works or not.

That little button next to the steering wheel adjustment knob that says cancel.

I've done that with Wes on the phone, and also taken the battery terminals off for like 5 min and then reconnect. It would be fine for like 2 or 3 minutes meaning that NO blinking green LEDs and functioning properly, but while on the phone w/Wes and driving sure enough they come on again and so on. Also, Jerry Tucker had it for 3 weeks and they thought they had it solved but ..........NO it likes me.
