Hey guys, I just bought a s13 from my friend (my first 240 ever) and it was stolen from him not too long before hand, they ripped the alarm out and now the doors don't lock. we're suspecting it's because of that - should I try replacing the motors in the door first? or just pay for a new alarm and installation?

Aftermarket alarm or factory?

When you say "won't lock," you mean you can't lock them with the key, or with the key fob?

Sounds like a bigger issue than just electrical.

Even with no alarm, the doors should mechanically lock with the key. Something's messed up inside the door, probably from the theft.

To test the mechanical functionality, you can take off your interior door panel and unplug any and all wiring going to the door lock assembly. Now it's just a manual lock. Try and use the key to lock and unlock that. You will either be able to lock it up or you'll find some sort of physical interference such as the bar leading over the the interior manual lock switch. If you can lock it, then maybe the electrical lock mechanism is grounding out somewhere like in the hinge area of the door.

Oh, have you tried your interior manual lock switch? I mean, can you lock it by hand while you're inside the car? Maybe try that first, then what I said about unplugging and trying with the key. Then roll up the windows, lock it by hand, hold the handle up and shut the door. Just on one side at a time, you then need to verify you can unlock it so don't lock yourself out of both sides yet.

Let us know how it goes, this could be useful for others.

Sounds good, my car wasn't made with power locks however, there was just an alarm installed. so i'm going to take the panels off and see if the people wired anything to the locks and if they did i'll undo them, then i should be able to use them manually like they were made to be used. thank you for your help and I will have an update soon
