With my 2015 Rogue Select, on several occasions I have exited the car, taking my keys with me, and the door locks by itself in a few seconds. I do not have an "intelligent key" and also if I were accidentally hitting the door lock button on the key fob, I would hear the chirp. I have searched the forum and found some issues similar, but no solutions. One poster suggested it was an "actuator" of some sort...is that a possibility? This is getting frustrating. I have driven many, many cars for some 58 years now and have never had a vehicle do this. I NEVER leave my keys in the car for ANY reason anymore. I have not been to the dealer yet, but that is my next stop. Anyone have the same experience or a solution?

Hey Shortfuse, check this thread and try the procedure to disable/ enable the auto lock feature. It sounds like it may be coming from the owners manual on pages 3-5, so hopefully you get to try it before going to the dealership and having them point you to the instruction book.

A couple things to check. From what you've described I don't think the above has anything to do with this. What can happen that I can think of is accidentally pressing the buttons, now here me out now because I know you said that isn't it. If you hit the lock button on the fob while any door is open, the doors will lock, however the horn will not chirp. The other thing that can happen is if you hit the unlock key after the doors are closed, and don't open a door again with in 60 seconds, the doors will lock. That will oddly enough happen even if the doors were already unlocked before you pressed the unlock button.
That's pretty much the most likely scenarios I can think of, anything outside that would probably be best discovered/figured out by the dealer.

FantomLightning,

Your first scenario might have some bearing. I'll have to check it out. The second scenario has never been a sequence I have encountered.

Here's the narrative on the latest occurrence of the phantom locking. We had been driving for about 20 minutes. The autolock feature had, by design, locked the doors at the programmed speed, 15 mph or so. I pulled up at the post office, turned off the engine, the doors automatically unlocked as usual, I exited the car with the keys in hand and went into the post office. When I came out, the car was locked! At no time had the car ever chirped. My wife was inside the car and unlocked the doors. I had her do so because my hands were full of mail and I couldn't use the unlock button on the fob.

I'm guessing a failed switch or sensor somewhere. I don't know how the Rogue system works but on my old '03 Passat this would happen and it was due to a failed microswitch in the door that detected whether or not the door had been opened.
