door panel question

hey, i hate the interior door panels on my car

but i don't want to spend too much to get it reupholstered

a friend of mine had told me that i could just take the top fabric part off and that the underneath looked good, that it was like all black plastic or vinyl

i searched but couldn't find anything

i was thinking of doin this but before i hack away at my car, i want to know if anybody else has done this?

My engine is being swapped as we speak and I changed my door panels to red so it would match my new interior. Ill take some pics in a bout a week. I got mine done from a upholestry guy for 70 including the glove box.

i've heard if you pull that carpet off it is nice underneath aside from small holes in the vinyl.

because of these holes I have not done my doors, and I wont do them until I can see one in person or get someone to take a closeup of the door vinyl that is under the carpeting.

the only pics i've seen are kinda far away and it looks nice but that doesnt mean anything until you get close to the door.

yeah the carpet on top the vinyl of my door is comming off but i dont want to pull it off you know.

I did this, and discovered several holes underneath. It looks better, but when I checked the passenger side there were more holes, so I left it. I really hate the interior fabric on the s13 tho...

I did mine, and it looks great. There's only holes in 2 areas, and it doesnt bother me any. There's vynil underneath the fabric, all I did was rip mine off. If you wanna see, click the link in my sig, then click the "my new doors" link, or somthing like that.
