I read on the forum a long time ago about using marine grade vinyl for replacing the door panel inserts. Does anyone know of an online vendor or a shop in the LA area that sell it or the like? Anyone have any cool pics of patterns they've seen in 240's?

I was mostly wondering if anyone knew of a shop in So Cal that carries stuff so I can see it in person before buying. Sorry if the post wasn't very clear.

Does anyone know if just a heavy cotton fabric would work?

any kind of fabric will work really. Its just a pain to get it to adhere onto the vert panels because the factory cloth doesn't come off

Eh? What do you mean? Inserts on door panels are stapled from the back, so it's easier to work on than coupe/hatch door panels. Remove door panels, pop the inserts out from the back, remove fabric, recover them, staple them back on, install door pacles and that's about it. You better check out my write-up on how to remove and install door panels. Basically, fabric is applied to door inserts just like to the glove box.

WHAT.

I tried EVERYTHING to get the cloth off the inserts and they wouldn't come off. I even tried wire brush. I thought they only peel of on the coupe/hatch doors

I got it. I'm sure upholstery shops know what kind of chemical to use to remove the fabric. It's just glued on to the plastic panel.
