Hey guys, I'm new here. I drive a 95 M3, but my dad has a 94 J30.

In the last month or so, his J30 has been having problems with the door handle. The lock won't release on the drivers door, so I've been having to hop over from the passenger side to drive. I wanted to take the door panel off for him so that I could check out why the lock is broken.. but I couldn't find anything when I searched.

How can I take the door panel off?

TIA.

Before evisceration, check the door lock threads. It's probably the timer unit.

My '93 J30 had a similar issue where I could not open the driver side door from the inside or outside. I actually had to pull and somewhat tear my panel out as my latch was completely jammed. I tried using a long rod to poke the latch...but that was getting me nowhere. So, my panel is torn, but it's not that bad once I put the panel back...as it is not the noticeable. Worst case scenario, I could always get a replacement panel from any junkyard.

I would definitely suggest you getting acquaited with your working passenger side latch so that you know exactly how it works and what parts are causing what to lock.

Thanks, but I got it last night after playing with it for a little bit. It looks like the problem is an actuator and the door latch itself. The actuator probably just wore out, which kept the door locked almost all the time.I guess I gotta head out to a junk yard and see if they have it there. Thanks for the help

I have the same problem with both of my rear doors. was the problem the Actuator only or was it the Door lock or combination of both ?
