So sorry man. I've seen that technique work before and I've also heard of using dry ice. But I'm sure it depends on the type of dent.altim8 wrote:so for all of the attempts to stay as far away from other vehicles as i could... apparently they were to no avail. some jackass has "door dinged" my beautiful coupe. anyone have any idea for some easy and cheap solutions? i have read about using a hair dryer to heat the surface and an upside down can of compressed air to rapidy cool it which is supposed to hypothetically "pop" the ding out. anyone tried this before? does it work and is there any damage to the paint? any other solutions?
Yep, I tell myself the same thing. Dents, chips, damage, wear, is all inevitable. But we do try to prevent that as long as we can. After all, the only way to keep it in pristine condition is to put it in a giant glass box and never touch it again, lol...but there's no fun in that...haha.SHIFT_2.5S wrote:Just don't worry about it. I know that these cars aren't cheap, but we have to remember that they're just that - cars. Meant to be used and driven. They are tools to get us from point A and B. Obviously, things will happen. But we shouldn't become obsessed about these little things as long as the car is fully functional. After all, its a car and a car is not an investment.
i dont intend for this to sound in any way condescending as i appreciate any feedback whether i agree with it or not... but why would you have registered and joined a car forum if your nissan is nothing more then a means of transporting you from one point to another? obviously you, as we all do, have some sort of "above average" appreciation for your car and want to maintain that by asking questions and receiving advice from this forum. i understand that wear and tear are a normal inconvenience but if i can prevent that or fix it by any means necessary then i certainly hope to do so.SHIFT_2.5S wrote:Just don't worry about it. You evidently misunderstood what I was saying. If you re-read my comment, you will find that nowhere did I state that our cars are "nothing more" than a means. I stated that they were tools, but they are not limited to being so. Furthermore, I did not claim that we should simply drive and not maintain our cars or use such forums for advice on improvement. I merely stated that cars are not an investment and that we should not fret over every single little dent because that is not the important part of life. Materialism corrupts people, and while we should strive to preserve our cars as much as possible (rather than driving on the wrong side of the road, for instance), we should not become obsessed with them. That is what I said. As for appreciation, it can certainly exist. But there is a difference between appreciation and an unhealthy obsession.altim8 wrote:
