so for all of the attempts to stay as far away from other vehicles as i could... apparently they were to no avail. some jackass has "door dinged" my beautiful coupe. anyone have any idea for some easy and cheap solutions? i have read about using a hair dryer to heat the surface and an upside down can of compressed air to rapidy cool it which is supposed to hypothetically "pop" the ding out. anyone tried this before? does it work and is there any damage to the paint? any other solutions?

I'm sorry to hear someone hit your car. I have nightmares of such things

Any way we can see the dent? Lets see a picture.

its small, about the size of a dime.. you can barely see it unless youre at the right angle. but its one of those things that just irk you to the point where it drives you nuts, like when you have a crack on your windshield that you just cant stop looking at. ill see what i can do about posting a picture.

thanks for your sympathy!

Dents like that I would really have to recommend a professional on. There are no real DIY type of solutions that would get that out. We have someone called the Dent Wizard in my area. They actually come to wherever your car is and do the work there.

So sorry man. I've seen that technique work before and I've also heard of using dry ice. But I'm sure it depends on the type of dent.

Personally, I'd take it to get professionally repaired. At my particular Nissan Dealership, a dent repairer guy comes every Monday...so if I had a dent, I could make an appointment to get it fixed. Hope you get it fixed man!

Just don't worry about it. I know that these cars aren't cheap, but we have to remember that they're just that - cars. Meant to be used and driven. They are tools to get us from point A and B. Obviously, things will happen. But we shouldn't become obsessed about these little things as long as the car is fully functional. After all, its a car and a car is not an investment.

Yep, I tell myself the same thing. Dents, chips, damage, wear, is all inevitable. But we do try to prevent that as long as we can. After all, the only way to keep it in pristine condition is to put it in a giant glass box and never touch it again, lol...but there's no fun in that...haha.

i dont intend for this to sound in any way condescending as i appreciate any feedback whether i agree with it or not... but why would you have registered and joined a car forum if your nissan is nothing more then a means of transporting you from one point to another? obviously you, as we all do, have some sort of "above average" appreciation for your car and want to maintain that by asking questions and receiving advice from this forum. i understand that wear and tear are a normal inconvenience but if i can prevent that or fix it by any means necessary then i certainly hope to do so.

and in regards to the "compressed air technique," i tried it, doesnt work

You evidently misunderstood what I was saying. If you re-read my comment, you will find that nowhere did I state that our cars are "nothing more" than a means. I stated that they were tools, but they are not limited to being so. Furthermore, I did not claim that we should simply drive and not maintain our cars or use such forums for advice on improvement. I merely stated that cars are not an investment and that we should not fret over every single little dent because that is not the important part of life. Materialism corrupts people, and while we should strive to preserve our cars as much as possible (rather than driving on the wrong side of the road, for instance), we should not become obsessed with them. That is what I said. As for appreciation, it can certainly exist. But there is a difference between appreciation and an unhealthy obsession.

Lets not make this thread into a match of reasons we should or should not appreciate vehicles that serve as a different purpose for everyone.
