Has ne1 ever removed their chrome molding from around the windows and painted them black? i am wanting to do that, but am worried that it wont re-install prperly! Anyone have an insight to this...please help me out. also what paint to use that will hold up to the elements and wont fade due to excessive sun light

I'm wanting to know this too... I've painted the chrome around the front grill and used duplicolor graphite spray paint... and it's held up nicely.

That's one of the things I liked about the SE-R, there's less chrome to have to remove :\ just a bit more expensive.

Yah why don't you just tape it off real well with painter's tape and news paper or plastic and give it an even coating of paint the color of your choice? Masking those areas prolly won't be too tough, but time consuming so you don't have overspray land on the other paint.

the main thing is that chrome pieces need sanding... it'll take a long time and don't really want to do that while they are on the car... might scratch the paint job...

I'd look into the product that Diesel_89 used to black out the trim on his grill. The thread is titled "Mini MOD - no 56K" I appologize for not just posting the link. I'd resort to that before pulling everything apart and potentially screwing up your trims.

Good luck

Trim is really delicate to be pulling off. If you tape it off with a couple layers of painters tape, it should be enough protection to do some hand sanding with 2000 grit paper. That should be enough to scuff up the surface and promote paint adhesion.
