i just bought a 2006 M35X and have read thru all the books and cannot find this answer. for 13 years my cars have had automatic door locks you could set to lock at various times; i specifically want all the doors to lock when i put the car in DRIVE. i cannot find how to do that and i am thinking it has something to do with the FOB - since it is in the car, will the car not do this? it is very hard to remember to lock doors and seems a regression in technology to have to manually lock doors when you are in a car. also, the design of the homelink transmitters being on the rearview mirror is different than my past 3 cars where it was on the firm roofline between the visors. this design means that everytime i use a transmitter, the mirror gets thrown out of position (you cannot just "tap" the buttons to make the garage door raise - you have to push it). any suggestions? and one last thing, i have a RAZR phone that does not appear to have a bluetooth setting - does that mean i cannot use the voicedial phone system? thank you all. i love the car so far and it is fun to drive - i would like to find the info on this steering wheel Tech bulletin problem though - i had noticed a little thing with turning but i am not sure if that is what the fix is for. please enlighten this newbie to the Infiniti world!! thank you!

Door lock - You are out of luck, it is not available OEM, you can get aftermarket controller to do it though.

HomeLink: what I do is: grab the button with my thumb and using my index finger to hold it while pressing the button, or just press it lightly(you do not need to press it hard to make it work).

For voice dial, I am not sure, but you have to have some kind of connection to the phone to make it work I assume.

I am not sure what you are talking about when you say the little thing with turning - where it is located?

No voice dialing without BT connection from phone to the car

if, IF, IF your steering rack is acting up, then get a new one at the dealer. The Dealers should be ready, parts and service-wise, by the end of the month. The TSB is active for a new Steering rack but the whole thing hasn't gone into full effect yet. The 09 Infiniti series cars have the door lock feature. The doors lock when you get to 10mph so no one hops out of their BMW to rob you.

thats for Sean.

By the way, we have had the "auto door lock" question asked before here. This is one of those "like 'em" or "dislike 'em" items. For example, I am in the camp of dislike them! I do not want a car nanny locking my doors if I choose not to. I am very careful about safety, always wear my seat belt, keep the tire inflated properly, etc., etc., etc., and I have yet to understand why automatic door locking is useful for me.

In a similar vein, the "auto seat belt retractors" some decades back proved to be a sales nightmare and were eventually dropped from modern cars - people kept unbucking them anyway and disabling the beeper nanny in the dash. I remember opening my window on a rental once, reaching out to get a parking garage ticket, unable to reach it, then opening my door to reach further. The subsequent clonk on the side of my head from the auto retractors was quite painful. After that incident, I swore I would never buy a car with them installed.

Exactly. If you have a little kids, use the feature of "kids safe lock" and have them sit in the back seat. Otherwise, leave the door unlocked most of the time and only lock them when you feel your surrounding is unsafe.

Why bother have the door locked ALL the time and unlock when you stop. Anything automated has its downfall - even automatic transmission. I guess we just get lazy and accepted it. That is the other reason why I kept 2 cars - my other car has a stick shift, which is more fun to drive when I am in that mode. An automatic basically rejected me from have that kind of fun, although it requires less effort/skill to drive.

You can also read the Owners manual. Page 3-5 and 3-6 tell you how to turn the feature off.

Good input, thanks! I did not know that Infiniti had decided to include the door lock feature in newer models. Glad to know that there is a disable.

For my 2003 M45, I feel good that I don't have the feature in the first place.

There is some debate over whether the auto-lock functionality can be set by a tech using the diagnostic workbench. A number of features are available to Infiniti techs that are not available through the driver interface. While I haven't tried this on my 2008 M35, I did have a tech set the doors to auto-lock on my G35 coupe. I suspect the same might be able to be done on an M35 that isn't a 2009.

Many people don't know this, but there are 3 principal reasons for the inclusion of the ADL. 1) In the event of an accident or collision, a locked door is like 60% less likely to fling open, adding more protection, as a chuck of metal smashing you in the face or ribcage is something to avoid, especially when its much less likely to happen if the door is locked.2) Many other vehicles have the system, and customers wanted to see it added to their wonderful Infinitis. However, infiniti made the system turn-offable. 3) You're less likely to experience a real life GTA video game situation if no one can just easily open the door.

I'd like to have the auto door lock for all doors when in Drive, but have each specific door automatically unlock when you pull the handle to open it (like with my Mustang).
