I can't get the key into the door lock cylinders any more. Several applications of powdered graphite helped for awhile, but now the key goes in halfway & that's it ! Is there a remedy, or do I need to replace the cylinders ? How much trouble & expense is it to replace the cylinders ? I don't really care if they are keyed the same as ignition.

I put some silicone spray lube on the key & inserted, repeated several times, now it goes in & out smoothly. I hope this treatment will last.

You might check to see if your key is badly worn... especially on the tip - if so a new $25-30 aftermarket key may solve your problem. Typically the ignition switch is more of a common problem than the door locks, but they fail too. If the silicone spray fix doesn't hold - you may be able to have a good locksmith rebuild them (replace the wafers that act as pins) in the locks. Check for someone who does a decent number of high end locks that use the wafer keys. The parts for an entire new lockset is on the $400 range plus I'm sure at least two hours of labor. Definately worth trying a new key first. I had one locksmith tell me that the best lubricant is WD-40 for wafer locks, but I'm still not completely convinced.

Did you remove the new locks, or are they still in the salvage yard? Might be a good deal for someone needing a new lockset.

They are still in the car which is resting on a friends property (sans VH45DE and transmission).

I still have all 5 keys for it too.I was thinking of keeping it for myself or selling it to a deserving NICO member.

I would be realy interested in getting your old lock set. The 92' I'am restoring the ing lock is getting worse every day! The car was traded in at our lexus dealership in clearater,fl with only one key. I have lots of z32 parts or cash always works.

Fred, do you still have your seats for sale? I would really be interested in the fronts.
