i shut the door while the lock is locked and when the door closes it pops back to the unlocked position...both doors do this..they are manual locks , 89 fastback all manual , ..id really like to be able to lock up my car but these damn locks keep unlocking themsleves , and the key will not turn it either way

simple. Nissan did that to keep you from locking the keys in the car. Just lock it and when you go to close the door, grab the handle like your trying to open it as you close. The door will remain locked.

If ur doors shut and latch fine other than that then i would have to say that ur door lock mechanism is prolly shot and its doing that to prevent u from getting locked out of ur car.

key excessively worn?

do you know the keycode & can cut a brand new key from that?

lube the lock cylinders?

but, the other thing that wa stated is just like that from the factory (other import makes did the same thing)

your locks are prolly froze and you have to hold the handle up then shut the door. its a nissan thing and has saved me from locking my keys in the car so many times
