My s13 will sometimes lock itself when I go to get out and have the door open. I can't find anything regarding this as a feature. Any idea what could be causing this. It's kinda cool but inconsistant, sometimes even results in the door not being able to shut properly.

I don't think so. When I got the car the keys did come with a non working fob on them, however, I haven't found any remnants of an alarm system. Granted, I'm not good at all with aftermarket alarm systems though and have no idea where to look, there's nothing in the engine bay at least. Sometimes it locks on me when the door is swinging shut too.

Under the dash is where you would find the alarm system, they wouldn't need anything in the engine bay if it was just a door lock/unlock feature.

kinda sounds like something is weird in your door wiring.

My coupe sometimes won't let me lock it by hand and then get out and close the door...it f'n forces it self to stay open it feels odd like its almost locking but then forcing it self open.

I just get out and lock it with the key, however sometimes I can lock it by hand.

I don't think anything I said was helpful but yeah, I kinda know what you are experiencing.

^Some S13s you have to hold the handle when closing the door or the lock unlocks its self. I've never figured out if that is a SOHC thing or base model thing or what.

I am hoping eventually going to find stock infiniti/maxima parts to replace mine with hoping they will be better and will be easier to find in the future.

I want a sunroof that goes over the roof and not inside it.

^ I believe that is for the base models. No power features.

I got a 90 SOHC model with power windows/locks. If you don't push the driver side lock all the way in on the inside, the passenger side won't lock with it, or it will want to stay unlocked by itself.... I'm sure some other people have this problem too. Meh it's 20 year old technology it still works. ;)

my 89 base model sohc, have to hold the handle up to lock
my 92 base model (originally dohc, now rb20) dont have to hold handle

My 91 does the same thing its annoying. one way to do it is unhook the power locks. No more power locks, but its better than locking yourself out the damn thing haha. ive locked myself out multiple times before I unhooked locks.

My 90 locks were screwed up to. it had its days when itd lock and when it wouldnt. I couldnt lock my doors at all and sometimes if i bumped it on accident it would go and lock me IN the car where i cant open the door... after I unhooked those power locks I can lock/unlock as I please :)

Hope I helped.. If not, well, im sorry, I guess hahaha

Sounds like every s13 has its lock s*** differently if they're power.
Keep a spare key in your wallet is what I do.

My doors will lock fine without holding the handle when I shut the drivers door.
If I try to lock from the passenger door they'll both pop unlocked.
