I had a 92 previously and it never happened. but now on my 89 that I have. why is it that I have to hold up the door handle when i lock the for the lock to stay engaged. and why does the lock disengage when i close the door w/o having the handle raise when I do close it ???

I won't debate the effectiveness, but the purpose is to make it harder for one to lock the door unintentionally.
