Yea you need to hold the door handle from the outside up when you shut the door. This is common on a lot of imports.

When you lock it from the inside, exit the car, then hold the handle up as you close it.

This is so you dont lock it accidentally

Conversly, if it is unlocked and you close it with the handle held up, it will not shut

Really? Ive been having problems with the factory alarm in my 95 SE. When I lock my car the alarm goes off sooner or later. This have something to do with that?

The S14's do not have this feature. The S13's had to be locked this way.

This only applies to cars in the early 90s and earlier.

I think it was supposed to help prevent accidental lock-outs, but closing the doors with handle pulled back became a habit that many people locked themselves out when they forget their keys anyway.

I'm not sure if this applies only to imports or whatever, I've been around Japanese cars just about all of my life and that's what I know about their door locks.
