Hey, I'm new this this forum and have been browsing but need some help. My mother has been using my 1994 Q until this past summer (got her a 1998 I-30) and it has been sitting. I put in a new battery and she started and ran but the next day she wouldn't crank. Nothing when I turned the key. I thought of ignition wiring, etc. and left it. Came back a couple of months later and same thing, but it did turn over and start (held my mouth right). This week I finally got it started again and drove it around and was going to take it to my mechanic buddy to check out the next day. The next day, the same thing AND the door would not unlock...I mean manually. No clicking, nothing. It was like it was just turning in air, both the driver and passenger doors. Had a locksmith open it up and cracked the window but the alarm system went off. So...what is wrong and what can I do??? I am a novice at this but trying to find out what is wrong so I can get it for help (too proud to tow it in . Thanks for any help (sorry about the length)

When you tried to start the car did the security light blink?

You are going to need to take the door panel off and replace the plastic guides on the lock regulators.. it should be VERY obvious what needs to be fixed once you take the panel off..

Yes, when trying to start the car the security light blinks. At first I thought that it was the security system not allowing the car to start. Could that be? I removed the fuse for the system and will try that once I recharge my battery. I have changed my door locks on my jeep grand cherokee twice so I am familiar with the door guides. I just think it is strange that both doors are involved at the same time. Thanks.
