ill check into it, the door open and closes perfectly fine it just there is no locking of the door what so ever. like i said if i flip the lock from the inside it will lock the passenger door perfectly fineHijacker wrote:Sounds like there's some binding on the rod that connects the door latch on the inside to something. Since you're having issues with your key turning, I would look at the rod that connects the outside handle to the inside knob.
Sounds like a bad power window solenoid. Luckily, the 240 doors are easy to take apart.240-slide-ride wrote:

ok so i had it apart today and all the rods are connected and all the plastic clips are intact. i noticed if i flip the lock switch the door wont lock but if i flip it and kinda hold/push on the lock the door will lock only if i keep pressure on the lock switch. also when i flip the switch the door lock motor kinda goes crazy like it kinda unlocks then locks againg but doesnt actually do anything. why would it lock if i only keep pressure on it? no rods were bent looking to meHijacker wrote:

I'm hesitant to blame the motor itself as the door knob switch is located in the motor. If the latch bars are causing the issue, they could be preloading and unlatching the knob while allowing the motor to sense that the latch has locked and keep the other door locked. If the knob itself was just popping back into unlock, the bar would move, and the motor would send the signal to unlock both doors.
20 year old plastic retainer clips are hitting the age where they are likely to break. I'm really thinking the issue lies in the clips or the bars themselves.
thanks im gonna unhook the metal rod tomorrow and see if thats whats holding up my door lock cylinder, im leaning towards the actuator being the proble with my doormancolog wrote:i HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM mine was the door actuator. It locks but doesnt unlock...
oops thats what i meant thanks! junkyard should have one of those laying around. 240 doors and parts are easy to work with. i have had nothing but trouble with my drivers door ive fixed everything except for this. *knock on wood*Hijacker wrote:
