OK, the lock cylinder is seized up on the drivers side door. basically, the part you stick the key into wont turn all of the way. Im wondering how hard it is to take this part out to grease it really well? Also, are the passenger and driver side ones the same? Ive been unlocking the passenger door and walking around for about a year now, and just wondering if i could switch them so the drivers side door can be unlocked instead? If all else fails, cant switch them or grease it enough to work, do i need to go to the dealer to buy a new one or can i get a standard one for cheaper at the local parts house? Thanks for any info

Maybe the key cylinder is not actually seized up. Take off your door panel and check the rods inside the door that attach to the lock mechanism and other things. They may be binding or bent or became didconnected. You can probably grease them, but the FSM only indicates a few spots your supposed to grease inside the door. I'd start by taking the door panel off. That way you can see everything that is connected to the locking mechanism and key cylinder, before you just start to unscrew things. Bill

When I bought the car, there was a problem with the lock. When you twisted the key, the bar that pulled up to unlock the door would pull up, but wouldnt pull the latch with it. I mean, you twisted the key but it didnt unlock. After going to lots of junk yards, I finallu order all of the latches, rods, handles, bars, connecters off of ebay. They came yesterday, so I installed it after about an hour of frustration. Its a pain to get your hands into those little holes in the door! So, i locked and unlocked the door it worked fine from the interior, and it also engaged and disengaged the passenger door at the same time like it should. But, when i went to put the key in and turn it, it only turned about one half of the way in either direction. So, im assuming that for the year that i wasnt using this door lock, the cylinder seized up on me. Im just wondering how to get it out. Also, can i switch it with the passenger side or do i need to order a new one from the dealer?

I had the same problem in my 91, I used a penetrating oil, (PB blaster) use the little straw that comes with it and squirt it right in the lock. I then used it on the rods behind the door panel, it works like new now!!!
