door lock jammed

My 93 Q45's driver door is not opening. When trying to open the lock from the power switch, it gives a rattling sound from the solenoid, but opening the door handle doesn't work. I cannot even open the side leather panel to reach the lock mechanism.

Any ideas?

So the door is locked, and you can open it......

There is a thing that will try and lock the doors when you unlock it. I would try to unplug the battery and unlock the door, and see if you can get it to open.

I bet one of hte lock rods is messed up,a nd you cant get that and fix it until you can open the door to take off the panel...

Someone else (cant remember who) had ths same problem and maybe he will tell you how he fixed it!

I disconnnected the battery and tried that couple of times but didn't work out. The lock seems to be stuck. From the top I can see that the lock bar goes inside a small round metal housing covering the lock mechanism. I tried using long rods to move some parts but couldn't do it.

You will have to find someone to jimmy the door open. Dealers and some shops have the tools..........it may envolve bending breaking rods and plastic clips, then the whole assembly will need to be replaced.

The system doesn't typical fail all at once there is usually a period of warning signs and minor problems/noises. Then the plastic clips finally break.
