Picked up an s13 actuator from the junkyard and was wondering if it would work with my s14, since i got a busted passanger actuator. Part number on the actuator is 8055040F00, Courtesy Nissan shows 80552-S14002 for the S14 one. Anyone tried this before?

Well I cracked open my door and took a looksie and NO S13 and S14 actuators are COMPLETLY different. Anywho I opened up my busted actuator and re adjusted the spring that sits underneath the gear and now it locks and unlocks!....(for about 10 lock/unlock) only problem with it now is that the little arm on the actuator doesn't want to stay hooked on the rod, so i will have to bend it into place using my manly muscles

First things first, take off your door panel. Then you will have to take off enough of that plastic that is on the door in order to reach the actuator. I unplugged a cable that is in the way in order to have more room to work with. Now the actuator is held in place by one screw/bolt on the door and two philips screws on the other side which suck to take out cause space is limited.

Once you have the actuator out you will have to open it using a flathead and opening it little by little on the sides. You will probably break off tiny pieces of plastic. Once it is open inspect the gears to make sure they are not damaged and that they are still lubricated (lack of lubrication is bad).

Next you will want to activate the actuator via the switch that is on the door (passanger or driver) so you can see if it is receiving voltage and if it is doing what it is suppose to be doing. Inside there is a gear that kinda has the shape of a baby carrot, once you activate the switch observe it spins one way for lock and another for unlock. If it does not then it is either busted, loose wiring, etc... fsm tells all

If everything is in order here then proceed to remove the only screw on the actuator in order to move that small lever so you can take off the little and big gear wheels. Underneath the wheels there should be a spring that is the same size as the big gear wheel. This is hard to describe because you have to see how the spring works together with the wheel, but don't worry once you take a look you will figure it out. (my problem was that the spring had came out of position on one side and there fore only unlocked the door)

Put it back together and see if it works before installing it. I had to wrap mine up in tape since when I opened it i kinda cracked some plastic off, but it's all good. Yay, it worked...but only for a limited time, the dang rod that opens/closes the lock doesn't seem to wanna hold on to the actuator, don't get me wrong the actuator is doing it's job but the rod won't cooporate. Let me know how it goes BlackZenki82
