You can use a relay to actuate the lights. Tap into the "BATTERY SAVER OUTPUT" (pin 17 of the smart entrance control unit) to trigger the relay and get power from some other fused source (maybe the "ROOM LAMP" fuse behind the coin tray). I'm fairly sure that will achieve the desired effect.

A relay is an electronically operated switch. The trigger for the relay would be the BATTERY SAVER OUTPUT from the SECU - tap into this wire in order to actuate the relay when the door is opened. Have the puddle lights connected to the output of this relay so they turn on when the relay actuates.

You can use a T-tap to safely tap into the wiring of the SECU without chopping wires up.

Sorry to bring up an old post but i just recived the puddle lights and i found the SECU. So if i have this right the SECU will make the light turn on and off with the dome lights. But to achive this i have to make the positive wire go to both the SECU And the FUSE? Or just the SECU. And if i have to do both how so? Im not really understanding exactly how to do this correctly.

Hi edogg27, what type of puddle lights do you have and where did you order them from? I am interested and like to do it if there is not too much involved. Thanks.

They r from ijdm toy they are just led bulbs in 4 housings that I'm going to put under my car. They look like the ones the come on some Mercedes Benz vehicles. They are just a positive and negative connection so it seems easy but I'm not sure how to get them to work with the door light. That's the only thing

All you should need to do is tap into the SECU's door switch wire and connect that to the positive terminal of the lights, then ground the negative terminal of the lights.

I am not aware of any Mercedes-Benz having the puddle light under the car, not under the exterior mirror housing? Will it be good to put the light under the car so close to ground? And will shop lifter damage the light if they are not recessed?
