try checking both of the door sensors. They are black and inside the door jam. To test them, open your door, set the interior light to door mode and push the little knob sticking out of the door jam, the interior light should go off and the door light in the dash should go off. If it doesn't just unscrew it and disconnect the harness.

For you power loss it kinda sounds like you clutch is slipping? do you accelerate to about 5000, then the revs continue to go up but the car doesn't accelerate any more?

Do you have the little black rubber things covering the door sensors. I had the light/battery drain problem and it turned out to be the rubber. The springy accordion part had come off and it is what pushes against the sensor and turns your dome/cockpit lights off when you close the door. Without the rubber on the sensor my interior lights would stay on and when driving at night whenever I hit a bump the lights would come on. Even worse it's hard to tell when your lights are on in the daytime so I would park the car, shut the door and walk off not realizing that my interior lights were still on so that would drain my battery...bummer. Replaced the door jam stoppers and the problem went away.
