Hey folks. I have a 2005 G35 Coupe. The trim piece on my door handle is scratched badly, otherwise the interior iis in mint condition. It seems I have read a post somewhere in a form telling you how to get the trim piece off. It appears to be aluminum.Once off, I would like to try a cosmetic "fix".Can anyone help?

Thanks!

which piece are you talking about?

take a pic or be more descriptive on what your problem is

If it is the wood/silver trim piece it will actually just pull up from one end and slide out.

It's the silver insert. I was hoping it is aluminum and not plastic. I wanted to know if anyone had try to brush the piece out and reinstalled it.

It is plastic, but I bought one from the dealer for $35.00.They have a screw driver slot to pop them off. It is on the side closest to the dash.

To all interested.....I found the piece to be Aluminum. I removed both and with a little carefull sanding they were back as new. I clearcoated both and re-installed. Wife scratched the passenger door side the very next day.

Just so everyone could know, The 03 and 04 G35 has plastic trim colored like aluminum. The only real aluminum trim is the trim around the shifter. From 05 and newer, the trim is real aluminum. All the FX's got real aluminum. The panel is simple. Stick a small standard screw driver in the slot, and gently pry it back, do that with upper and lower sections. Careful, the plastic trims won't bend, but aluminum bends and is damn near impossible to bend back to shape. Unless you're Bender. But He's not real.
