Door handle swap

Ive been a bit busy gathering parts for my vert build and decided to throw my coupe doors on, but I have a problem. I dident get a key with the doors and the guy I bought them from cant find it. So I guess my option is to swap the key cylinder or whole door handle from my vert doors over to the coupe doors. Has anyone done this? how exactly do you do it? pics would help alot.

Sorry for the crappy thread but I am extremely tired today and never have much time with working full time and going to school...

No one knows how to take off an exterior door handle???? Come on guys!

I've never done it before, but from what I understand there are just two nuts holding it on from the backside inside the door. you might be able to reach it through the side edge of the door (with the door panel off), or you might just go behind the door plastic to get to it.I haven't looked in a while, but that's what I'm thinking.I'd change out those plastic lock pieces while you're in there, too.Mine broke off and I need to get in there to replace them.

Ive done it before when we swapped a smashed door on my buddy's 240. Like he said there are two nuts holding the handle on and than you gotta unclip all the metal rods from it. You just take off the door panel and weasel your hand in there to get everything off. We tried to find ways to just use the cylinder but we had to paint the door anyways.

how do i unclip the plastic retainers, they look too fragle to take a chance on them. any tips? also where can I get em from if they do break? the dealer?

i've also done it too....i did the same thing you did...swap doors to a coupe on my vert and didnt get the keys.....

you do have to remove the clip and unbolt the 2 10mm bolts that hold the handle and then unclip all the rods from the handle and worm the handle out....its kinda a pain trying to worm it out and in without scratching the door.....

as for the clip, it is easiest if you have a set of picks so you can grab hold of it......the door also has a plastic plug that covers a hole that you will need to remove to get to the other bolt holding the handle....
