Hey everyone,
I'm new around here, just bought a 2012 M37 and have enjoyed the first week w/ her. One thing though, i've gone through the manual and have tried to access a few of the features but I haven't been able to complete my goals.

Puddle lights- i've followed the manual instructions of turn to on, open driver door, touch the handle button for 5 seconds. I tested the car by locking and walking up w/ the key, the lights don't come on.

Seat memory... this is a puzzler. You're supposed to turn to "on" and hold down the "set" button then one of the numbers. The lights on the numbers light up for 1/2 second when I touch the "set" button. I can't even touch a number button w/out turning off both lights while holding the "set" button.

I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or there needs to be some sort of "reset" done... thanks in advance for people w/ experience.

Not sure about the puddle lights, perhaps you don't have that package? Was it standard?

As for the memory settings, I do it with the car on. You don't hold the set button. You push it, it'll blink, and then you hold the 1 or 2.

Thanks on the seat memory! Manual is confusing, tells you to hold button down.

Car has puddle light but only light up when you open the door

Yes, the door light only comes on when you're near it. What were you expecting it to do? Be able to be turned on and left on? Sorry...just trying to figure out what you're looking for.

It should light up when you lock/unlock the door with the remote key fob, or if you walk up to the car with the key on your person, once you get within range of 3 or 4 feet.

Sorry, I was typing on my stupid phone last night... yeah, my puddle lights only turn on when I physically open the car door. They do not turn on when I approach or unlock the doors. I've tried the directions in the manual but it hasn't seemed to have changed the setting... maybe I'll have my dealer help me w/ it. I was just wondering if there's a trick that the manual doesn't spell out. It took me an hour to get my stupid homelink set up because the manual makes it sound easy. I had to go to my garage door opener's website to figure it out

It actually worries me about premature wear on the motors of the steering wheel and seat motor every time I get in and out. I'd prefer that they stay where they are. Sure, I like the extra space of getting in and out. But after reading stories on the steering wheel motor adjustment needing to be replaced and the price. That scares the bejezus out of me. As I'm a cheap SOB. Thinking of heading to Infiniti to have them tell me what to do, to disable that adjustment. Unless you all know how to disable that feature?

Postal- I did see that function as one of the options in the infotainmentcenter. You can turn that on or off by going through the menu's. I think it's in options or something like that. Poke around and you'll find it. I'm inclined to turn off the steering wheel at the minimum. I can't imagine it's good on the motor to move the wheel 4-5 times a day, I'm on the fence about the seat moving back...

From section 3-28 of the owner's manual:
Cancel or activate entry/exit function
The selector lever must be in the P (Park)
position with the ignition switch in the OFF
position.
The entry/exit function can be activated or
canceled by pressing and holding the SET
switch for more than 10 seconds.
The indicator lights on the memory
switches (1 and 2) will blink once when
the function is canceled, and the indicator
lights will blink twice when the function is
activated. Note that the indicator lights
may illuminate after 5 seconds while
holding the SET switch. This indicates
readiness for linking the Intelligent Key to
a stored memory position. Keep the SET
switch pressed for more than 10 seconds
to turn on or off the entry/exit function.
The entry/exit function can also be activated
or canceled if the “Lift Steering
Wheel on Exit” key or “Slide Driver Seat
Back on Exit” key is turned to ON or OFF in
the “Comfort settings” settings. (See “Vehicle
information and settings” in the “4.
Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice
recognition systems” section.)

This is a setting as stated...I think it's under 'Comfort' or some such.

Thanks everyone for the help! I got the puddle lights working. I think I turned them on the first time I followed the directions in the manual but I think the way I was testing them was the problem. I think you have to lock the car and leave it for 10-15 minutes before you go close to the door and have the lights turn on. I was locking the doors and only waiting about 30 seconds before I would walk back up to the car and "test" the puddle lights...

I also have turned off the entry assist to try and save my seat and steering wheel motors
