I was parked along the sidewalk, and a car from the other side of the street reversed into my door .

Anyone have an idea of the cost to get this fixed? Would they have to replace the whole outside panel of my door?

oo it was this old lady, she left a note on my door about it. I have all her info, just wondering how much it'd cost to repair

That sucks about your door. It is definitely nice to see that there are some people that have the decency to leave their information rather than just speeding off.

Damn dude that sucks. Well at least she was nice enough to leave a note with all her info for you. There has been many cases on here were they don't leave SIHT besides the money people have to spend to get this stuff repaired. It can and will be fixed dude no problem.

It depends on the shop if they're busy or slow, u can call around and ask for quotes. There's a place in Mira Mesa, call AJ USA, off of Mira Mesa BLVD and Flanders i believe? They do a good job a lil pricey, but worth i would say. and if insurance is covering then it shouldn't matter. There's also another shop up in Escondido call Auto Art, they do a good job also. hope that helps

Sucks to hear but if you have all her info, why worry about how much it'll cost to fix. You have two options here:1: File a claim and have the bodyshop of your choice handle all the paper work...or2: Contact her insurance company and tell them you'll get it fix and that you'd rather get the check instead of paying it directly to the shop. Get a couple of estimates from local decent shops and submit the highest one to her insurance. Once you receive the check take it to whoever you want to fix it. This way you govern the money and yo might walk away with a few $$ in your pocket.

Good Luck

Yeah why not... The process usually goes like this...

Her insurance company will send out an adjuster who "estimates" the damages.Usually this is done where the car is being fixed. The claim is then processed with the name of the the shop that is doing the work. Usually that is the body shop but in this case, tell the insurance company to send you the check and you take it to whomever you want to fix it for the a lesser amount.

just go to different body shops and get quotes and give the highest one to the insurance company.

lets say you go to 3 shops

shop 1 400shop 2 600shop 3 650

you give her the quote for shop 3 and you get a check for 650. then you go to shop 1, get it fixed and you get 250 in your pocket.
