door closed, won't latch

Hello,

I have a '95 Nissan 240 SX. My passenger side door will not latch when I close it. Its not that the latch is down and needs to be flipped up the latch wont lock into place when the door shuts.

Is there anything I can do to fix this myself?

Duct tape.

Just kidding. You'll probably have to adjust the latch. Weird that it would just suddenly stop latching. Were you in an accident or anything recently?

Ummm. . .you won't believe this, but currently it is duct taped!

No accident, no nothing. A passenger went to close it and it just didn't close.

I tried adjusting it, but the plastic piece that applies upward pressure so that it locks in is no longer applying that pressure.

Very frustrating.
