guys, in my 91 240 whenever i shut the door, the light on the dash stays on, that says that the door is open. and then the floor and celing light stay on, but the seat belts work, and they go back. I know it's not those black sensors with the boot over them, because i tried my friends on my car and they work on his car, but same thing happens on my car. it says the door is open.any ideas?

I would try to push the switches in on both sides with your fingers if the lights go out adjust the door strikers on the car in toward the center some, I think you need a T30 torx bit??

the switches are fine on my car, the door just needs to be adjusted somehow. I've heard something about replacing the bushings, but I dunno

I guess you could replace door pins and bushings(pita) but you could just adjust the strikers. Break the torx bolts loos move the striker in toward the center of the car a little until the light goes off and the door shut good. Just some trial and error

sorry to bring up an old post, but I really have had it with this problem!!!

I tried to see if it was the switches or the light switch up top, or even my alarm, i checked everything with a multimeter!!!

COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM!!!!

Did you ever solve the problem guys?

I found my problem tonight with the dome light staying on and such.

If you remove the passenger trim above the door on the inside of the car. Its the plastic molding that the sunvisor practically touches. You will have to take off the 2 screws for the visor, and remove that, then pull/pry off the sunroff molding if you have one, and take off the molding behind that also by removing the 1 screw and pop off the front of that molding so you can remove the first molding i mentioned because it sits overlapping it. now you can pry down the roof trim and if you look towards the column that divides the window and that triangular glass in the back that says 240, underneath the roof pannel, you will se 2 wires taped around pretty crappy, and you will see a mount bracket for the auto seatbealts that has a sharp edge, now the wire is pressed up against that bracket im almost 100 percent sure!!! just tape it up where its rubbing real good so it doesnt happen again.

seems to me like they should have run the wire "behind" the mount for that assembly, but this should be it, unless you have a bad door switch.
