Hey guys on my way home this evening the door ajar light would flash on the dashboard and then disappear especially when I was driving on a bumpy road. Eventually it got to the point where the door ajar on the dashboard stays on and now my interior lights all light up as if the front driver door is still open.

I ended pulling over at a gas station and walked around the car opening and closing all four doors and even the trunk lid. My car still acts like the front driver is still open. I tried pushing the door switch on the door jamb in but the car still thinks front driver door is ajar. The door appears to be latched. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Btw I have a 2011 M56x if that helps.

Have I had it happen? Yes. The switch is a mechanical part and like all mechanical parts, it's prone to failure. A replacement switch should fix your problem. I should note that if replacing the switch doesn’t shut the light off, you'll have to have the wires checked for any damage as they may be shorting out.

Hey thanks for the response. Someone on FB suggested that I swap the faulty door switch with another on the car that I know that does work. Unfortunately the problem doesnt appear to be with the faulty door switch, I went and swapped it with the front passenger side switch. End result: the front driver side door is still lighting up on the dashboard.
