I had just turned on my car yesterday and went to close the door while I put my bag in the trunk and noticed that the door wouldn't close. I tried about 5 times, and it just kept bouncing back out, as if there was a spring in the way. On the 6th try, it finally shut, but would not open. I had to enter the car through the passenger side and went directly to the dealer (exiting through the passenger side). Initially, they thought something might've froze, but when they inspected it, they realized that it was a mix of some freezing, but that the "actuator was on its way out." They quoted me for $482 "Drivers front door actuator - Needs drivers front door actuator binding - 1.5hrs." Does anyone know if there might be a cheaper fix for this?
Also, my passenger door makes a clicking sound, but only at the angles where it stops. If it is opened only a small amount, before reaching the first stop point, it will not make a sound. The dealer quoted me $201 "Passenger front door strap - Needs passenger door check strap - 1.5hrs." Will I run into further issues down the road if I don't fix this and just live with the sound? Is there a cheaper method of fixing it?
Thanks, and Merry Christmas/happy holidays, everyone!
