DOOM 3 System RequirementsWondering if that gaming rig you use to play solitaire on will be able to handle might of DOOM 3? Well, this is the place to find out!

Minimum Specifications

A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500. 384 megabytes of memory. Two gigabytes of hard drive space. An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.

Recommended Specifications

2Ghz CPU or AMD 2500+ 512 megabytes of memory. Two gigabytes of hard drive space. Radeon 9700 or an nVidia GeForce4 ti4600 graphics card or better. 5.1 surround sound audio

Worry Free Specifications

3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 64 3000+. 1 gigabyte of memory. Two gigabytes of hard drive space. An nVidia 6800 graphics card or an ATI X800XT 6.1 surround sound audio

Well looks like its deffently time to upgrade lol. Wow..... a 3ghz processor for worry free. I am afraid that HL2 is going to have the same requirements. Ah, well time for upgrade anyway :D

The problem with upgrading today is everything is 3x more expensive compaired to when 1ghz first came out.

Nice thing about my Athlon 800, is that1) It was mostly free, and2) Shopping in the $10 clearance bin for games keeps me from overspending!

I'm between recommended and worrying free.. kinda cool because I got my current comp a year and a half ago... never upgraded it either =P

I played the doom 3 leaked alpha version about 6 months ago... its cool even with a mighty 7fps

Yeah really. If this game is the reason you're upgrading your machine, it could be the most expensive game you've ever bought. I'd at least wait till the reviews are plentiful.

Looks like all I need for "worry free" is a 9800XT (I have a 9700 128MB clocked/cracked over 9800 128MB spec) and 6.1 surround (damn...I only have 5.1)

Looks like I WILL be getting D3 at work Friday:)

Hardly. I have a friend that has a 2.4gHz HT clocked to 3.2gHz on air cooling alone. I need to get off my a$$ and do that myslef. The trade off is killer loud fans and actually spending money (440) on a decent heat sink.

I'm almost done with the single player, I downloaded Doom3 a couple days ago and man that game is INSANE. It is a must have for shoot-em up gamers. The little details in the game will blow your mind.

How.

If I can air-cool my 2.8 up to 3.6 I'll do it. Its not like I can't just buy another processor should the one I'm planning to OC burns out.

what are you running right now? There are plenty of ways to O/C the radeon on stock cooling.
