dont see rear factory amps for s13 coupe

ok, so i recently bought an '89 coupe with active speakers and no radio installed. i have already removed the front speakers w/amps to fit some 6.5 components. i have also removed the rear speakers... but i dont see the amp for them. ive read that they are supposed to be under the rear deck, in between the rear speakers, but i dont see them. could they be anywhere else ?... or could they have even been removed before i got the car????? im confused

i dont think they have amps. here's a quick check... look at the wires that run to the deck... are they the same as the ones in the rear? if they are the same wires then there is no amp, or at least there shouldn't be. usually when there is an amp they dont use the same wire color for input and output. at least that's how it is on my 96 and my 92, well it's a hatch so different setup but i dont think there are amps. could be wrong though. i used to have a 90 coupe and i'm am almost positive there was no amp in the back.

no headunit installed, and the wires are cut for the harnesses... lucky me. guess ill look them up in the fsm

im pretty sure its supposed to have amps... "active speakers"...

I own a hatch 89, but as far as I know, I've never seen a factory amp on the s13, other than the actual factory head unit, that's about it. I could be wrong, but I've never seen them.

i know there are some on the front doors.. they are not really traditional looking amps... they are inside the speaker "enclosure". my friend has a coupe, but it has had soo much work done to it i dont know if he still has the factory stuff or not. he has put his money into silvia conversion and all that so i doubt he has touched the stereo. i'll ask him.

alright, thanks AustinSilvia. and yeah, the factory amps look just like a little circuit board behind the speakers. i cant see any other little circuit board / amps anywhere . let me know what your friend sayd, thanks
