John Edwards just admitted to having an affair.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200...ffair

So using the logic I see so frequently from the liberals on this forum, that means nobody should vote for Obama. Democrats are clearly all bad.

Yes, because obviously all blond hair blue eyed Germans must be Nazis and hate Jews, too.

And, because I own guns I want to shoot people, therefore I am dangerous.

And, because I like anime, video games, and girls; I must be an uber dyke *****.

Stereotypes are so much fun, let's play the stereotype game, shall we?

Good find Seth, I've made the connection now. Liberals do to women what conservatives do to our county.

I'm not certain I understand the correlation between this news break and voting (or not) for Obama, but I certainly was surprised to hear about this.

I'd always given Edwards the benefit of the doubt on this, I'd figured he was just being needlessly hounded by the media. I'm unhappy to see that I was wrong.

This means that he is most definitely off all "short lists" to be a VP candidate, which is too bad, because I think he would have been a decent "uniter" without the baggage that Hillarious might bring.

haha. That was funny Bob!

Obviously the news about Edwards' affair is big news. But clearly the way I broke the news was a joke.

I was somewhat serious about the fact that I think too many people dislike McCain because of what other Republicans have done... Which isn't fair. Hence my joke about not voting for Obama because Edwards can't keep his pants on.

In my case the dislike of McCain is due to what McCain has done. Rubberstamped Bush all the way while professing to be a maverick, something he is not. The people of Arizona voted for him and pay him to do a job in Congress; he has missed over 50% of those votes. Anyone in private industry would ge fired in a heartbeat for such a poor work performance, not given a promotion and raise.

That's the business model he supposedly supports by being a Republican. Let management and the shareholders run the business based on his work performance. As shareholders in America, we should cast our proxy votes to fire him for dismal work performance and supporting policies that are declining the value of our country.

Before the Republicans get too fired up, the same applies to Obama. There is no excuse for taking a paycheck for being a Senator and not being there to vote. He can hang his hat on the original Iraq vote; yes, he had that right. But in my mind he's failed miserably since. Some areas I just can't trust his judgement.

I can totally respect what you've said above. Anyone who forms an opinion based on the candidate's life work, and can support that opinion with reasonable explanation has my respect.

I just get sick of hearing all the McCain bashing because of people's dislike for the Bush administration, or Republicans from 10 years ago, or whatever unrelated political issue.

Base your opinions on the candidate himself and not on the party they represent or the history of said party or some obscure issue you have with them.

I might just vote for Paris Hilton.

She has one bangin' a$$ Energy Plan, that's for sure. I'm not sure about the whole VP that's not a citizen of the US, though. But, then again, is Barbados really any different than the US? :P

Obama didn't vote ON Iraq war. He was not in the senate. His base (black) voters were against it. So he delivered a speech.

Now go back in time and have Obama given a choice and tell him what the Iowa, Virginia voters think about invading Iraq and ask him what he would vote on.

He'd probably vote the same way other democrats did. For the war.

It's irresponsible to say 'I was against it' when there were NO responsibility for him to vote on it anyway.

Valid point but at least he was vocal about his opposition. No we don't know what his final vote would have been. He's caved in on enough votes now to know that he is in no way a leader and very much a follower by convenience.

If you want a maverick, you go to a Ron Paul, a Dennis Kucinich or a third party. If you want the same old garbage you go to Obama or McCain.

On a side note, I wonder what Paris Hilton's cabinet would look like?

Secretary of Education- Arnold. ("I'm not a teacher but I played one in "Kindergarten Cop.")

I actually had a lot of respect for McCain and considered voting for him in 2000.

Here, I figured Edwards was a shoe-in be Obama's veep. Will be interesting how it turns out now.

I never thought he was angling for that position ... I expected him to be a shoe-in for Attorney General if Obama makes President.

Edwards is not even on Obama's short list.

take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U..._2008

Personally, I think he's going to pick that Governor from Virginia for sure.

We all know how good politicians are at keeping their word.

The guy had a lot of charisma before this happened.

Print more money to buy the booze, sell more IOUs to the Chinese to finance the deficit, and GIVE AWAY the booze to the entire nation. Kind of like a lot of these other grandiose giveaway plans. Heck, when you're in the federal government and it's not your own personal money you can afford anything your heart desires.

Put in on Medicare's bill. The country-wide debauchery will help ease the pain that everyone is apparently suffering, plus those who win can celebrate, those who lose can cure their depression for a night.

Or how about the Chamber of Commerce?

I dunno, but here's my thinking:

I live a few miles from the 2nd-largest retirement community in the US.

I'm gonna charter a bunch of buses, get all the old people riled up by an Obama impersonator in a leotard, drop them off at the polling places, promise them free bingo and coffee at Village Inn, and watch J-Mac take AZ on election night.

Wait.

He's already got AZ in the bag. Hmmmm...

disclaimer (not a fan of extramarital BS)

i really wish politicians could just man up about crap like this, yeah its gonna cause a **** storm , but at least your credibility as a honest person who doesn't lie wont take that huge plummet of respectability,

Edwards might have been a decent guy but even his own party is backing up now...

regardless of your affiliation, if you get busted doing **** with a partner, just admit it, at least have the balls to be honest about something. (that goes for j mac as well, if he lied. i don't remember as it was rather brushed under the table...)

Yes. Having met Edwards and spoken with him personally, I have to admit that I was impressed by him. I don't know if it was a politicians act, or he meant every word. Misguided in some of the things he spoke about (given my personal beliefs about less government), but he certainly was willing to listen.

I found his willingness to stay attached to his early roots, despite having made it big in the legal system and politics, very worthy and a statement of his character. For example, he and his wife celebrate their wedding anniversary most years by going to dinner at the same Wendy's that he proposed to her (could not afford fancier stuff back then). He is in touch with the needs of the people who do need help.

Regardless, would I have voted for him? No, most likely not. But, I seriously considered it (even though I am a registered Republican), because, at the time that I met him - some months before he dropped out, I was not enamored with any of the Republican candidates who were running for the office.

And, of course, it goes without saying, that if I had decided to vote for him, this affair would not affect that one way or another. We should select our President by his/her capability to do the job, not by their human aspects (however, I expect them to not lie about it ... i.e., don't take the Bill Clinton "That woman" route).
