So the tire pressure monitor came on and it's not turning off, does it go away, or do I need to reset it?Also, there's a weird rattle coming from the engine bay during low revs. Just a little over idle... Sounds like a belt or fan, but my car is only a few months old and I figure it's due to the cold.. Hopefully I won't have to rip out my dash to tape some wire... Lol, I thought engines loved the cold?? Oh well, it's all covered by warranty so whatever, it'll get fixed..

My V did the same thing. We has a burst of cold weather and even some snow and that light came on and hasn't gone off since. I have been dealing with it for almost a month and we have since had days in the upper 70's since the cold snap. I am also noticing a creaking noise in the drivers side pillar in the mornings when it is cold. I don't hear it during the warmer afternoon weather.

Any advice on the light would be appreciated. We checked the tires and even added some air to no avail. As a long shot, even disconnected the battery in the hopes it would reset....it didn't. I suppose it will have to go in, but I am not due for my first service for quite awhile and hate dealing with the dealership unless I really have to.

Thanks!

PS - My sales guy called and I told him about the light. He mentioned the light doesn't hurt anything and I could wait until my first service appointment.

To reset the TPMS, fill all four tires to 40 PSI. When the light goes out, adjust them to the pressure recommended by the manual. If the light is blinking, you may have other issues. If the 40 PSI trick doesn't work, you might want to take it to a dealer.

just figured out that parking in the garage helps out. 3rd day in a row with a 10 psi drop on one side then the other the next day. Getting it back to 40 should turn your idiot light off. If it doesn't after a few min. Take it to your dealer, they will prolly charge you to rest it though.

Is there a single fuse for the idiot light, or is the fuse for the entire panel?

Yea, when the temp dropped a couple of mornings ago my light came on too. I have nitrofill in 3 of my tires and air in the forth. I'm assuming it is that forth tire that lost some pressure. I've just been to lazy to stop and get air.

Just curious....whats cold for Florida? I once heard someone from Florida say they once got frost. I laughed. I have been in Orlando in January and it was in the 80's. Is that cold?

It really depends. I say Florida is like a pregnant woman in winter...hot, cold, hot, cold...... It gets down to the 30's everynow and then as the low.I'm originally from Pensacola (farthest west city in Florida) and in 1993 we got 2' of snow. Granted it melted by noon...it was still cool. And down in Tampa/St. Pete there are the rare instances of snow flurries at night but nothing sticks.

It will literally be down as low as the 30's one night, and then a couple of days later the high can be back up in the 80's or 90's.

I thought the outside air temp dropping enough can make the air in your tires lower, setting off the TPMS and that's what the nitrogen fill is for, because nitro. is less affected by ambient air temp. I know the first really cold night up here in MN (It's snowed here already once) the TPMS thing went off, and as soon as I drove for a while, the tires heated up and the light went off. Pressures were at 36 all around, too.

It can, that's why mine went off...because I have air in just one of my tires. The other 3 have Nitrofill. I had a nail in one tire that I got repaired and didn't pay for the Nitrofill.

Yea, so we have to keep our cold and hot weather clothes out during this time.

Well, I woke up and put on a sweater and sweat pants, now it's 1 pm and I'm changing to shorts and tee shirt. It's nice. You get the crisp mornings, but by noon it's bright blue skies and mid 70's... Gotta love shorts on Christmas...

Have you found the source of the noise at low speeds? Mine was rattling on the passenger side of the car at 1100 rpm at parking lot speeds, and started after the first cold morning we had. The foam between the air conditioner tube and bracket had fallen out and allowed the tube to vibrate against the bracket.

Nope can't find it. It seems to only be noticeable when it's colder outside and is silent when it's warm... Don't feel like taking apart my dash, but might have to...

You do not have a blown fuse. Fill your tires to 40 PSI and drive around. The light WILL go off. Then, bring the pressure down to around 35 PSI. It's that simple. I've had this occur three times on my Versa, and it's worked every time.

The only time you need to worry is if the light begins to flash. This indicates a malfunction in the system.

As for the rattle, if the car is still under warranty, the dealer is required to find and fix the rattle for you. This is covered under the one year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I had a rattle in mine, it was a loose heat shield near the manifold or downpipe, i never bothered to fix it, the noise goes away once the engine warms up.

I get the same ****ing rattle. ITs annoying, but goes away and then comes back when RPM is between 0800-2k. Never bothered taking it to the dealer

It seems to be that my rattle has gone away, it was just a slight vibration. Some of the instrument cluster rattles originate where the dash meets the cowl (right under the windshield, on the inside). Stuffing felt between the dash and the windshield has cured this problem for some people.

To answer your question, no, the "idiot light" does not have its own fuse. This system is part of the body control module, and cannot be disabled. Because this is considered OEM safety equipment, it must be functional to pass inspection (in this state, anyhow).
