I was pulling onto the highway this evening, and matted the pedal. I accelerate, hit 14 psi, and quickly merge into traffic and into the left lane passing several cars. Then I hear a loud "pop" and my engine starts to sputter and run like a$$. I immediately know that one of my intercooler pipes had popped off, since it had happened once before, right after I did the swap. Anyway, the hose clamp for my blitz bov hot-pipe was bowed on the band slits that act as threads, and would no longer tighten enough (I took this clamp from my old arc fmic kit). Anyway I get it semi tight and being careful not to boost the engine, drive to the parts store to get a new clamp. Since I'm going to at some point, install the gt2871r turbo, and increase the boost, I bought through the nico group buy, it's a solid choice in my mind to upgrade to band clamps which is a much better design. Just curious if anyody else has had this issue with hose clamps that are supplied with most fmic kits, especially at higher boost pressure. Or how many people have never had an issue at 14psi+ boost?I have a blitz lm fmic installed now, and using the provided hose clamps, not that it really matters.

I'm just going to replace all the hose clamps with band clamps, since it's worth the money IMO to not have to pull over on the side of the road on a cold, rainy night. Just my $.02...

*knock on wood*, but I've never had a problem. Daily my car at 14 psi and have pushed as high as 20 psi. I'm using a used EVO intercooler with custom piping.

Proper fitment and flared pipe ends make a lot of difference, its not all in the clamp.

That's pretty badass. Tell me she works on her car too. I wish my gf wanted to atleast help.

I agree 100%. That being said, in this case it was all the clamp.
