I'm getting a 1990 240 coupe, everything but motor and transmission. I'm goin to get a dohc KA and 5 speed transmission to drop in, but after that, I'm stumped on what to do.

I know I want to do a Silvia front-end, and I'm fine on anything cosmetic. But as far as motor...it's between a build KA (2.8 stroker and turbo) or either an RB25 or 26...I'd LOVE the 26 but it's a lot of $$ and even more costs besides just buyin the motor...I just wanna do something that not every has, and that will have me makin a crapload of power...

Any suggestions? I've never looked into a swap before (I've always just wanted to build the KA) so how hard would it be to get an RB in? Or should I do somethin else like a VG30 or something?

KA + 2.8L stroker kit + turbo = fiery death.

Unfortunately, if you've got your heart set on doing something no one else has, you probably don't want a 240sx. It's been done and done and done. In fact, I can't think of a single type of motor (rotaries included) that hasn't been dropped into the S chassis.

V8 = Aeris' LS1 in an S14 (NICO)V6 = VG30 in an S13 (Meggala)I6 = McKinney Motorsports' RB26 in an S14 (McKinney)I4 = pretty self explainitory. Include all CA and SR swaps, plus KA buildsRotary = I think I saw it on a rotary board in some "abomination" thread.

So my recommendation? Forget about making craploads of power, forget about doing something original. Just build a hot car and love it. That's the name of the game in 240sx territory.

with ideas of stoking a KA, you can afford RB26 swap. As a matter of fact a stock internal RB would probably be cheaper than building a stroked KA. With your ideas and plans, money shouldn't be a problem apparently.

If you want unique, put an F20C in it. That's the S2000 engine.

No one's ever done that before.

People put KA24DE's into 510s, and people put F20C's in 510s as well. This means that with a little work, it's not unimaginable that you could have an F20C in an S13/14 either. Sure, you'd need custom mounts/driveshaft/standalone/blah blah, but most of the wild swaps mentioned above would require the same thing.

Then you'd have what (far as I know) no one has, a 9000rpm NA 240sx with the best H-pattern transmission mankind hath ever created.

That would be truly unique.

If I had so much money that I could wipe my *** with it, I would consider swapping in the engine from the current M3. I would first check the weight of it though. I wouldn't like to totaly throw of the weight distribution.

I think that a VQ35DE powered 240sx would be hella cool too.

Or how about an FJ20DET? That's not something I've ever heard of putting in a 240 either...

Or maybe a nice, built, ITB-equipped ballsy NA L28B. Mmmm, carb'd old-skool Datsun fury, you'd have to slap fender mirrors and old-school Sein racing wheels w/flares on too though:)

If anyone figures out the VQs electronic throttle and how to get it to work in a S-Chassis then yeah, good idea.

People have gotten VQs to work in R-chassis cars, I don't know why it'd be any different.

someone really needs to pull off the awd Silvia/240SX/200SX. That'd be teh win. Maybe it's my destiny now, if only my group makes it big making music I'll have enough money to do 20 LOL
