The last thing I'm trying to do is bring any unnecessary internet drama to this forum, but I'd hate to see anyone looking at having a VH swap done get burned. This is only one side of the story, but I can't imagine anything from Craig's side that would make these actions justifiable.

Craig is a member here on NICO and I've seen him post up about completing lots of VH swaps. Never met him, never talked to him, so I have no information other than what I read in this build. Just hate seeing some kid get burned and lied to. :frown:

My take on the situation is that Craig has completed more VH45 swaps than probably any other single person has.

I don't really want to get in the middle of this, however Craig sent me some pictures of this particular swap as he was in the middle of it.. What it looks to me (and was indicated to me) is that this person was sick of waiting, regardless of any reason that Craig gave, and just picked the car up as it was. Craig mentioned to me that he has a series of health related issues that prevented him from working on cars for about 2 weeks.. Sorry but if your back is shot, doing an engine swap isnt going to be easy..

Clearly it was in the middle of something, IMO if the person was doing a VH45 swap in a 350Z it probably didnt matter.. My point is, he didnt even give him a chance to finish the car.. IMO, considering that no one to my knowledge has done a VH45 in a 350Z, it is not an easy task and 2-3 months might not be too far fetched.

Most people simply don't understand what its like to do a swap that hasnt been done, or just a swap in general.. This person probably should have just put a turbo kit on the VQ and been done with it..

And of course, this is why only a handful of us can have special cars that have VH45s in them... :)

I wouldn't put a lot of credibility in the rantings of a member there. Wes has some good points.

Remember, they're corporately-owned, and drama = traffic, so moderation is minimal.

Full disclosure before I make my comments - I have previously read that thread and posted in it, and it looks pretty bad for craigZ (who I do not know in any way, I just recognized the name from on this forum). What has been described in that thread is a ridiculous chain of events.

I'm not sure if your first comment is meant as a preface to your second comment (i.e. don't trust what the forum member says simply because it's a corporately owned forum), but if so, that's completely asinine.

With regard to your second comment - IB (the company that owns that forum) has absolutely nothing to do with forum moderation in my experience. No input whatsoever. I am an administrator on a forum owned by them, and they are hands off entirely. We moderate our forum the exact same way we did before any of us had ever even heard of IB. FWIW my350z has some of the most overzealous moderators I've seen, so minimal moderation is not a term I'd use to characterize the moderation style over there.

I agree that 2-3 months would not be far fetched at all for a completed swap of that complexity, but did you look at the pictures? That swap is 10% done in 3 months time. Basically all that's been done is the stock engine removed and the new engine sort of placed in the general vicinity of where it will eventually be secured. That car looks like it's been worked on for a couple days maybe and has many many days to go.

Who knows, maybe the situation has been totally misrepresented by that guy. Taken at face value though, it looks like a complete disaster.

I totally agree with you. At face value it looks like a disaster however that guy wants to portray it that way. I'm just saying I've talked to Craig enough to wonder if there is any missing or misrepresented info. Btw just because the engine is in the engine bay kinda halfass doesn't mean much to me. We all know the engine has to come in and out MANY times on a swap like this. It could just be bad timing.

btw Craig told me that this guy has been ignoring his phone calls and texts. Again this is one persons word against another, fwiw
