Bent valves and valve hitting is a problem of timing. Thats what scares me from doing my own head work

well my friend did his and has no problems. he used a 240sx de head the front cover from a frontier i do believe no reason to use the sheetmetal to cover a gap either. i will get him to post pics up on here. i personally know 3 people now that i hang out with that have done the swap. and yes i am talking about the e to de head.

i am looking at doing the swap, sorta… I have 3 KA24E blocks laying around and my DE has a hole in it. But I test fitted it today and if I use the front cover, chain guides, and crank from the DE it will work… the only thing I’m still iffy on is the KA24E oil pump sump tube runs thru the block but with the DE front cover on its exposed the hole and I’m not a 100% that its only thing that path is used for… I planed to plug it or tap it for my oil return line..

I stand corrected, everyone. A couple months ago when i had my car running, my timing gears broke! I had thought that the valves possibly got up to temp, hit the pistons and then broke the gears. Earlier this week however, when putting this b-tch in time again, i didn't torque them, lock-tite, or even impact them. I must have been rushing myself and didn't tighten them at all! God must love me and spared my valves this time, when the gear came off the cam. The gear sustained a unaffecting chip on the back at the pin.

But the car fu-king hauls now!! It is pretty nice, but no powersteering yet really sucks. On the downside though, my car is smoking worse than Bart Simpson's aunts. I added a smoke treatment to it but didn't stop it.
