Backstory:(skip this part if you just want to know about the car)
So I have had my 1990 piggy coupe for the last year and a half, and for a DD it has treated me great, and just as this summer began I evaluated what all I wanted to do to the car to begin transforming the stock monster into a respectable coupe, mainly ditching the steelies, switching to 5 lug, and finally getting rid of the 4x4 status. Money got pretty tight over the summer (stupid paying for college on my own), and I was finally ready to at least put the tires on when the week of ordering some country hick backed his monster truck into my coupe. Overall damage: royally screwed up both pop-ups (managed to smash one down, and bend the other back over itself), creased/tore the hood as his tow hook dragged along, and a broken bumper. Luckily I sort of knew the guy, so he actually agreed to pay me cash to replace all of the parts, and I could just quote him the costs, I checked every salvage yard for the parts and ended up walking away with 850 bucks to replace the front, which ended up paying for my new shell and then some, so the fender bender could have been the best event of the summer.
The S14:
Ran across this ad on Craigslist for a 1995 shell, thought it was almost a scam, but after speaking with the seller, and getting my dad to go check out the car since it was located in TX and I am in VA (so glad he was only like 30 min away), I finally decided that the investment would be worth it, and got it picked up. It's currently in a storage unit in TX, and I don't have any cleaned up pics yet since I don't have it, but just had to finally share the fact I got my shell.
Still debating on the engine at the moment, I was thinking about the RB25, since I am in no huge rush to complete the car, I mostly want it to be my own project car, something to learn from and truly appreciate. At the same time however, just dropping a KA in would be cheap and would have the car at least running sooner so that I can ditch the piggy earlier (no offense to piggy guys, i love the s13 coupes as well, just s14 more)
The good:
S14 (originally wanted an s14, but found my piggy coupe for 300 so had to snag it)no major rustsuspension is upgraded to at least Tein springs and kyb shocks, will last until I can put some stance or tein coilovers on5 lug swappedapparently had an exhaust upgrade to 3 inch, unfortunately cannot tell what kind atm, awaiting more photos, hopefully will be keptclean title, took forever to find a non salvaged or non titled shell
The bad:
no front end, however I would have done a Kouki conversion anyway, so it just saves me removing thembroken windshield, but have already sourced a new one for cheap cheap, glad to know some glass guysinterior needs some work/also needs dash, hopefully the dash can be found cheapradiator support is bent, but should be easily fixable / replacedsunroof, I can not stand sunroofs on car, breaks up the look so much, will either keep and deal or find some way to remove and cover it
Pictures:
These are the original cell pics the seller sent, but hopefully I will be able to post up some non-dusty non cell quality pics from my dad soon. Really wish the guy was local when I bought, but will be bringing the car home over the first possible break, and will hopefully find a storage unit near school to convert into a temporary garage.
Mess of the interior, was apparently in process of converting to black
Faded paint on roof
Broken windshield/no dash
I really look forward to getting this project started and fully underway, and will make sure to keep an update log of whats going on, which unfortunately will probably have to wait until this semester is closer to ending.
