i have a 95 240 and my dome light doesn't work. i'm not sure if it's the bulb or the wiring. i just got a voltmeter and it doesn't read anything when the key isn't on the On position. when the key is turned to On, there is a reading of ~12v and that is with the switch of the dome light on the On position too. if i open the doors the meter reads ~0v. on the middle and Off position, nothing comes up. i'm pretty sure that it's the wirings, but where do i start?

Clean or replace your door contact switches. You should be able to see the filament in the bulb. If not, replace.

I don't know where the door contact switches are. Is that the rubber thing in the shape of a circle that's like half an inch in diameter? About the filament in the bulb, is that inside the door contact switches too?

O dear. Yes, the switches live under those weather covers, they should peel back to reveal a phillips head screw holding the switch to the door frame.

The filament is the fine wire inside the bulb which gets hot enough to emit light.
