I've searched the forums here for something like this and have been unable to find an answer.

My dome light on my 93 240 vert flickers when I hit some bumps (sometimes bigger ones, sometimes smaller ones - no consistency). The Chilton manual says for 'Lights flicker' that it's a loose connection, poor ground, or circuit breaker operating (short circuit). I've tightened all the connections and looked for any bare wires but haven't been able to find any.

The other solution is to run a ground wire from light housing to car frame. I'm cool with straight mechanical stuff but electricity and I have never gotten along.

Has anyone had a similar problem or tried running a ground wire from the dome light to the body?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Vert's have a dome light?? Is it on top the windshield? I've never owned a 'vert, so that's news to me.

Anyways, on your dome light: do you have a switch that allows you to select ON(now), OFF(always), and ON(door open)? Do you notice your leg-room lamps come on/flicker also? If so it may be your door switch. Otherwise I would pop the cover off your dome light(like you were replacing the bulb). Start by looking for any corroded/lose connections in there.

Verts have lights up near the windshield near where you pull down on the top to lock the sides. However, there are no switches on the light itself. For that matter, the only thing that turns the light on is the door switch.

I took the cover off but didn't see anything obvious (corroded wires, bad connections, etc). I've also completely removed the door switches (one at a time and both at once) - but, though the light didn't come on when i opened the door, it DID come on over the bumps.

One thing I recently noticed is that it will come on every time I turn to the left up an incline (hill, bump, whatever). I'm not sure what that means but it happens.

are there any wires in that bundle that travels between the body and the dust protector right there by the front driver's side wheel well that could cause a short like this? I had some trouble with my suspension and the tire ended up burning through the protector and fraying a bunch of wires (which caused some other problems with things like my windshield wipers). I fixed the problems and rewrapped the wires so I shouldn't have any other problems due to that - but the turning left up an incline would argue that I might.

Thanks in advance for any helpJ
