Alright peeps, I wanna know if doing this swap yourself is really a realistic thing for most people to do. Sure, it would save you an asston of money, but can I really do it?

It would have to be over a holiday, because I really need the car, but I am not a mechanic. I have limited knowledge, not that ignorant about tools, but never really got up under there exept for oil change, plugs, wires, intake, downpipe and exhaust.

I've also heard people say that it isn't that easy of a swap. I don't want to start on something and end up having to tow it anyways, but if I can save some money, it might be worth it if I had some experienced help.

I also thought of saving money by pulling out the ka and taking the sr out of the clip. shops charge for that, so that may be a help. then take everything up there, so all they have to do is put the new engine in. what do you guys think?

it really isn't that hard as long as you take your time and don't cut corners. I had never done a swap before but I still didn't have any trouble doing mine. I pulled the KA on a Saturday and had the car running again by the following Thursday so it took about 5 days...

SR swap... I *could have* done it in a weekend, but I went pretty slow since it was just me and a friend of mine and I didn't want to screw anything up.

what about th horrors of wire harnesses and a/c and power steering lines? how does everything bolt up, and can you use the stock intercooler and radiator?

it's a used engine from a junkyard or something, so I'm a little worried about the condition, it got scrapped for a reason...

wiring harness horrors is a myth. Just cut and solder basically, it is actually quite easy. Yes you can use stock IC and SR radiator. Most of em get scrapped because of their mileage laws or the fact that they were wrecked...

If you feel confident with you skills and you have help then thats your choice to give it a shot, in my opinion...its worth it to pay for a professoinal installation, buy im Anal about details so that may just be me, it is extremely recomended to ungrade IC and Radiator, the IC because they almost ALWAYS have leaks from cracks and other damage from the clip, and radiator just to be safe, espically if your ungrading performance aspects, or if you live in a boiling hot environment, i.e. Florida, anyway hope this helps:D

if you want a sr swap contact solidgoble on aim he lives in dallas and can do sr swaps, w/ working a/c, tell george or magiktec aim name sent you he will hook you up, its not that hard to do it, try to get a s14 sr clip it makes it so much easier to swap into an s14, that is what you have right??? if you are worried about wiring it up contact phase2 motortrend they can wire up the a/c also with their remote wiring services, things to mod on you car when doing the s14 to s14 swap would only be custom a/c lines because the end pieces do match to the sr compressor and use th sr compressor, or you can also go KA-T!!! :ylsuper
