Today's the day, I'm starting my timing chain. I'm not rushing it I'm on vacation, so there's a possibility it'll get done tomorrow. I'll take pics n stuff, but I have a quick question to anyone who has a KA24E and a light weight pulley (Prefrebly UA).

I bought it about a week ago and it just dawned on me today there's grooves where the belt rides on the pulley. Doesn't the E have a solid v-belt? Or will I have to get new belts? The UA pulley came with a paper, with the gate's item #'s and I can use my boss's name to get parts at discounted prices.

Answered all my questions besides will the belts fit. Got the front cover off (Caught it just in time before the chain ate through). The bottom guide support was being eaten into too (Atleast 1/8 - 1/4 in.). Sorry don't be looking forward to pics, someone in my house took my camera and won't own up to it now, so oh well. It'll turn up eventually and then I'll take pics of the nice clean finished job. You shoudla saw what came outta my cooling system, I was worried the front cover ate threw.

Just outta curiosity, if the chain did go through the cover, how much do one of those run and are they dealer items or not?

Ok, finally done and she runs great, much better than before. I accidentally bought plugs, wires, cap, rotor and new belts too, I guess that got mixed in with the broken thermostat housing And a souvioner...don't ask...I'm just hoping it won't cause problems down the road.

I also had a P/S steering issue that seemed to clear itself up (My guess is the P/S belt was either to tight or loose). I just gotta fine tune the timing. There's no way my car is gonna get to the recommended idle of 750, I either retarded or advanced it all the way (top adjustment was closer to firewall than radiator) and it ran like ****, I almost stalled too. So I just put her back close to where it was to begin with, it still feels like it laggs from time to time in low rpm.

Biggest problem is, I can barely see the marks on the crank. Anyone have any tips on how to get the damn light on the marks with the intake, P/S and other hoses and wires in the way? I even tried marking *15 with paint to try to make it stand out more. Maybe I should wait till it get's later, so there will be less light out.
