I ordered some Tokico Blues online but didnt get dust boots. I thought mine were cool at least on 1 side but i c both them are ripped. Will i really be in troble if i just insert the old torn ones cuz im having trouble finding them in local stores. Its Sunday too, no dealerships open. Im just tired of hearing my girl crying ad being depressed cuz her car aint ready yet, im bout 2 make her do the struts. I just want it right since we got that new paint job. Pics real soon!!!Thx for the help.

Better off waiting till you can get hold of some new boots. You want to protect your investment in the new Tokicos, right?

If the rubber is spilt, then they are useless. They are designed to keep dirt out of the strut assembly.Grit on moving parts acts like grinding paste. The strut seals are in danger of being damaged, and they will score the shaft. They will also start squeaking too.If they are still ok, then it may still be a good idea to change them, as rubber gets brittle over time, and may be near splitting anyway.

The dust boots have an integral bump stop [rubber disks] to keep shock from over compressing............this rubber changes with exposure so it has different compliance.

The combination is why one changes things every 4-5 years.

hell naw dawg you gotta keep it real up in this jeezy..

I little idea what that means.

Anyway, doing struts sans new dust boots is stupid. You might as well just not replace the struts.

As an aside, I have been tempted to try Z32 boots because you can get them in aftermarket replacements much cheaper than Q45
